The Story (Behind the Story)

A COMMUNITY PLAY GONE BIG

"Something Inside is Broken" started off as a community play. I was hired to be the choreographer. When I watched the first run through - which contained Nisenan songs, I was deeply moved. I knew this story would be recognized all over the world.

I have been deeply privileged to see that belief come into reality. After that community theater run at Sierra College, we received funding to go on a West Coast Tour. Then the filmed version has won 26+ awards in multiple countries across the globe. And now it's licensed by PBS.
